We are all in the business of marketing ourselves everyday of our lives, and mostly we don't even know it. You see, marketing is the vehicle that communicates our message to encourage people to want to be associated with us.

We Give Our:
  • friends reasons to like us
  • family reasons to love us
  • staff reasons to be employed by us
  • and customers reasons to buy from us....

So it stands to reason that our quality of life and success in business largely depends on our ability to market effectively. Some do it well, but mostly people use the ad hoc approach, which is largely ineffective.

Marketing used correctly is one of the greatest assets you can have in promoting yourself or your business. It provides you with the means to drive your organisation to the forefront of the marketplace and have you stand out in the crowd of the media jungle. You see….it doesn't matter how good your product or service is, if people don't know about it, you don't have a business. You need to `get known' by making the right noises, in the right places and in the right way.

It's not enough to employ all the traditional marketing and promotional techniques, you need to be `street wise' and `street smart' ….it will save you from being `run over by your competitors'. So you need to adopt some additional tactics that will give you that `head start' in developing a successful business.

Here Are Some Tips To Add To Your Collection Of Business & Marketing Strategies:

  • Know what people's needs, dreams and wants are, so you can market to satisfy them.

  • Dare to be different - bringing your business to life by giving it a `personality' - people will instantly become emotionally involved with your business as the answer to satisfying their needs. You need to be creative in getting your business known faster.

  • Develop A business `mud map' that's workable, time saving and takes 5 minutes to ever alter - You need to know where you're going or you will get lost in the journey. It's like a business plan that fits on your office door... and not in your draw.

  • Recognise change as an opportunity - Dispense with the fear of change and embrace it. Think laterally and creatively to find new opportunities in the market place.

  • Use creative visualisation to achieve what you want in your business and your life... it will help you move mountains . so... start living and believing the reality in which you want to create.

  • Learn from the best - find a business that is similar to yours and study their approach to marketing - don't re-invent the wheel it wastes time and money.

  • Learn the art of `leveraging' to get the most out of your marketing $$ (for details, phone me and I'll show you how).

  • Network with complimentary organsiations or people - avoid `time wasters'.

  • Avoid getting involved in a price war, you may lose the battle - try value adding to your product/service to give it a perceived high value which costs you very little.

One last tip….ask for help often, and find a mentor. You will be surprised how giving most people are of their time and knowledge and, indeed, you may have much to contribute to them. In fact, it will be another one of life's daily exercises of marketing yourself - but this time, you'll know that you are doing just that.
