At the precise moment that you are reading this article, whether you're sitting in your office, on a plane, in the kitchen over coffee, or settling into your bedtime reading, you and everything around you is `changing'. Seconds roll into minutes, then hours, days, and then years. It becomes a maze until something impacts on you so significantly that you become conscious of this inevitable continuous process. Some of these `changes' are heralded as a welcome relief, but mostly we remember the traumatic ones or at least we viewed them that way. I'm talking about those earth shattering `changes' that seem to rock the core of our very existence and blinds us with fear. Our life seems thrown into chaos and we've all experienced it many times.
Yes the dice seems to keep rolling your way... and you think that it only lands on you. The emotions flood in of absolute frustration, despair and often disbelief. What is really happening, is that you become paralysed with fear. Fear, because you're not in control and you don't like it. No matter what we do, `change' has its own agenda... it takes its own course, yet we wrestle with it every time it pays us a visit. Its purpose dictates the way we do business and live our lives. However, for many of us and on many occasions, short term pain bears long term benefits that are revealed later on down the track. `Change' is where opportunity is born. Whether we like it or not it is inevitable. It's part of the evolutionary process and it's `inescapable'. In fact, you can be guaranteed that it will remain your constant companion. If you reflect on the `changes' that have occurred in your business and your life, you will find that it has been the vehicle that has sped you on in your journey to unearth new opportunities. It forces us to explore new ways of doing things. Although `change' is out of your control, what you can control is your perception of it and how you can capitalise on it. You have the choice of a `smooth road surface or a dirt track'. To accept change and to even consciously embrace it, will free you to recognise the opportunities which are laid before you and allows for an easier transition. You see, you can be sure that you have a destination to reach in life but.... `Any Road Can Take You There'. |
